The Inventor (companion idea)
Here's one for you DM's that want a not so useful inventor as a companion. The players are wandering about a town when one of the building makes a large explosion sound. The towns people don't seem to disturbed by it & if the players go to investigate the building they will find allot of smoke coming out of the entrance. If they go to try & enter, they will see someone wheeling a little red cart full of supplies out of the building. If the players go to interact with the person they will tell the party that it was an experiment gone wrong & that they should all probably leave before the guards come & investigate the loud explosion noise. After that they will ask if they can come with the party, due to the fact that they will portably have to skip town & would rather have company with people who was concerned for their safety. If the parties say yes, the inventor joins their party. If they say no, the inventor will just nod at them & wander out of...
