Dullahan Poker (Side quest idea)

Here’s one for you DM’s that want a funny poker based sidequest, where you get a literal head.

The players enter a gambling house, to find about 5 people stand up furiously from a table & leave. If the players look at the table, they will find a strange looking person sat next to a bunch of coins. The person will notice the players & challenge them to “win all the coins I've garnered”.

If the players agree they will begin a game of poker against the person. At some point in the match the person will put a hood over their head. At this point, have every player do a perception check, & those who succeeded will notice that the poker player’s head has been replaced by a pumpkin of similar size & shape. With another check, the players’ can find the head is near the legs (the mirror being in the other direction of the group’s legs), looking at some sort of magic mirror to cheat.

If the players are able to break/get rid of the mirror, the poker player will reveal themselves to be really, really, REALLY bad at actual poker (& can only win rounds now, via random luck). After awhile of losing, if the players continue to play till the poker player runs out of money they will attempt one last gambit.

They remove their head from their body (making a big deal about it, since they don’t know the party already knows about it) & then bet’s their body for all the gold that they lost. They will then attempt to play poker with their teeth (being unable to) & then switching out their body for their head in the bet. As you can imagine, it’s hard to play poker without seeing the cards & they will most likely lose. After that the party gets to keep the dullahan’s head & gold (the body will follow the party around, & attempt to steal the head every so often)!
