Fungus Fugitives (side quest)

Here's one for you DM's that want a somewhat long running side quest.

The Players are visiting areas of the town when all of a sudden some people start making a ruckus. If the players go to investigate they will find that some fungi have become sentient  & have now grown legs & began to run around. If the players try to find out what happens they will figure out that these fungi came from a trade ship & now the players are requested by local government agents to stop theses fungi before it becomes spore season.
